I understand all your arguments in favor of the 3rd gen. And, as you’ve owned two variants of the 1st gen your arguments are all the more valuable.
I tend to find the design of the 1st gen a little more distinctive, but I’ve never tried one on. Maybe someday.

Tough call — normally I would gravitate to the smaller version —
But, in this case I prefer the salmon dial of the third generation versus the copper dial of the first iteration. That being said, I would definitely need to see them at hand.

I like the platinum case and I like how the newer bracelet links take their design cues from the Maltese cross. I always thought this was a cool idea.
The links design of third gen is interesting indeed.
I would just say that, as the Maltese cross motif is already on the bezel, it makes this motif a bit insistent. But it’s nice nonetheless.
