Who can explain this??

A friend of mine was just about to pull the trigger on the amazing Zenith Doublematic...but then noticed a huge mistake on the time zones ring! Are Cairo, Doha and Moscow not in the same time zones?!?!?!?!? How can Zenith not know that? Why would they put three cities of the same time zones next to each other?? Can anyone explain this? Thank u in advance for ur feedbacks!

I think that Cairo is GMT +2 and only because of daylight saving time it is in the same zone as Moscow and Qatar.

The latter two, of course, are a huge mistake on that dial. Marcus

Definitely a poor choice of cities!

As you said, these cities are often in the same time zones (daylight savings time adjustment may sometimes separate the two). But yes, very poor choice on Zenith's part. Thanks for pointing this out. Lots of errors everywhere. JLC knowingly has errors on ...

If I was a Zentih fan boy I might say something like...

Istanbul, Riyadh, Dubai Two share same time ...

Istanbul used to observe DST until 2016 and had no time difference with Riyadh during summer, no they have same time all year

This dial also marks cities observing daylight saving time with arrow and color

I then realized now my MB Orbis Terrarum has been incorrect ever since!

It uses GMT+2 for Istanbul. ...

I'll try to explain

They've chosen Cairo for offset +2, Doha for +3 and Moscow for +4. Cairo's TZ is UTC+2 and UTC+3 during daylight saving time. Doha's TZ is UTC+3 all year. Moscow's TZ was UTC+4 all year between 2011 and 2014. So this dial is probably older one. (Before 20...

Thank you very much!

It looks like you nailed it.

'UTC'? What's that, then?
