As Pateks go, this one is supremely underwhelming. I just haven't gotten on with either this one or the prior introduction, the 4947A. It just...for lack of a better term, looks cheap? There's something about it: font for the numerals is off, the dial tex
Hi everyone ! Sharing this 4947 Annual Calendar, which I got back in Dec 2023. Been so long since I posted here and I’m glad to be back here. When I was asked if I were interested to buy this watch, I was hesitant initially due to the reference number sug
Do you mind sharing what reference the beautiful platinum (?) Calatrava below the special 5196P Salmon has? Patek's home runs in the looks department have been far and between over the past 10+ years. 5230P is up there, 5740/1G as well, and 5170P was love
Tried these Pilots at the AD today. I first saw both versions of the 5924 at the Patek window at Watches & Wonders, but they didn’t grab my attention then. Now, having tried this khaki green on the wrist I was quite impressed and ended up asking to reserv

You raised a couple of good points --- the 38mm of this beauty, which make it entirely suitable for both genders (despite the initial 4 in the reference number), and also the typical rarity of SS complicated (non-sports) models within Patek's catalog....a
I just looked up the Twenty-4 models you mentioned on the Patek website, and found it interesting that the dials are described as "vertical and horizontal satin-finished dial" vs "vertical and horizontal satin-finished dial ("shantung" finish)" for 4947.
Patek calls it a "Shantung" effect. I guess they are referring to the Chinese brush effect in lacquered Chinese furniture. The olive green of the 5711 is similar to the shade of the blue in the previous 5711A ... I say similar in that it has a bit of a "d
