Friends,
The Lange 1 Moon Phase I posted the other day, I find stunning and very romantic due to the Moon Phase.
Especially like the fact that the Moon Phase is located on the right-hand side, the part which for most people it the side that peaks out from under your cuff.
Normal or more practical would be to have the time on the right-hand side so you wouldn’t have to lift your cuff to read time…
Another of these stunning German’s is the A. Lange & Shöne 1815 Annual Calendar in Pink Gold.
A more classic dial layout with the symmetry around it centre.
A bit surprising to see the pointer date and day indicator on the left-hand side here.
To tell date and day must be much more useful that telling month.
On the other hand, you may argue that it gives you a reason to get a full view of your watch…!
The combination of solid silver dial and heated blue hands gives a great contrast here and the dark numerals and minute track frames the dial in a very balanced way.
Another detail that surprises me is the pink gold seconds hand. Why didn’t ALS opt for a matching heated blue hand so all time hands were aligned?
Instead matching the Pink Gold calendar hands makes it a bit confusing…
Also makes it blend in with the Moon Phase and star heaven.
Either way, these surprises do not make me less impressed by this beauty!
On the back, same approach as with the Lange 1, minimalistic, made to perfection, made beautiful.
Calibre L051.3, the same one-piece main plate is here, the Geneva bars, the heated blue screws…
And so is the swan neck regulator! Sorry for the poor photo quality, but even if bad quality, the romance and beauty is there.
On the wrist, this 40mm piece of German Silver and Pink Gold looks right at home…
What can I say? Time for me to open up to German watches…?!
Best
