Avatar

Moderator Patrick_y interviews rising star independent watchmaker Vincent Deprez. A watchmaking prodigy who started working at Vacheron Constantin at the age of 15, to determine how thoroughly Vincent Deprez makes his watches on his own. Would I make a nice wrist model? I think so. I'm enjoying a lovely Vincent Deprez timepiece on my wrist...Story

MB&F Sequential EVO Chronograph - THE GREATEST CHRONOGRAPH INVENTION IN 100 YEARS!

What's better than a Split Seconds Chronograph? The new MB&F Sequential EVO Chronograph! I had the distinct pleasure of seeing this watch last week in Geneva and all I can say... This is REVOLUTIONARY. An ALL NEW Chronograph Concept! A truly great contribution to Horology! What makes this watch special? Yes, you can see that there are two seemingly independent chronographs. But what is that button at the 9 o'clock position? Here is where the magic happens...Story

Spaceships... Tortoises... And Ethics...

C'est le weekend! It's the weekend! Time to shrug off the work week, and now focus on the weekend and what we personally like and enjoy! With W&W recently past us, we're all focusing on the new things... Focusing on what to call our favorite ADs, and beg them for a watch that we will add to our collections and probably only wear once or twice a year. Few pieces this year inspired me tremendously at W&W, so I find myself looking into the past... The things that got away.....Story

A possibly interesting visual history of a certain military pilot/racer chronograph aesthetic…

To some, what I’ve put together below is no secret; but for me it’s been a truly fun ride and learning process. This story/post begins here: 2 mos ago I spotted and felt suddenly and bizarrely compelled to buy this 90s Speedy Auto Date MK40 (3513.53), issued only in Japan for a year as I understand. It looks nothing like a Speedy Moonwatch or Racing watch, other than the lyre lugs and the broad white & black pencil hands used in some Speedys over the years. The subdials are oriented 6-9-12; no hesalite; .....Story

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture, 2021.

I wanted to share with you a new release from Alpina, which I find very interesting, the Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture. Interesting it is, for three reasons. First and most important, a reminiscence of the Past, with this modern bumper movement which belongs to a bygone era, as it disappeared at the end of the 50's, early 60's, replaced by the rotor we all know, now. The vintage: Here, a picture of the Cal AL 709, which is automatic, of course, beating at 28, 800 vibrations per hour and with a 38 hours .....Story

My selection of the watches around the 2021 edition of the Geneva Watch Days

Avatar

One of the main successes of this Geneva "back-to-school week" was to gather a number of meetings and presentations around the Geneva Watch Days. The line-up was therefore much broader than that of the brands officially participating in the event, which enabled visitors to have a representative view of the year's new products. There were three types of alternative presentations: those made in the Baselworld pop-up, those made in the boutiques (like Purnell's showroom or the Salon des Horlogers for independent ... ...Story

My selection of the watches from the 2021 edition of the Geneva Watch Days

Avatar

The 2021 edition of the Geneva Watch Days was a welcome opportunity for the watchmaking community to meet again with great pleasure. Beyond the joy of the reunion, it gave to the brands the opportunity to present their latest novelties as well as the watches that were unveiled since the beginning of the year. The event was a sort of crossroads between, on the one hand, this review of the last few months and, on the other, the projection towards the end of the year with, for certain brands, the prospect of ... ...Story
