Another interesting release from Lange, this year, the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon.
So, as you can guess, you have an exceptional chronograph coupled to a grande date which is associated to a complete perpetual calendar and, cherry on the cake, a superb tourbillon which has the good taste to be located on the back side.
Still, I prefer three watches, one for the Tourbillon, one for the Perpetual Calendar and one for the Chronograph, but for those who are mad about the " three watches in one " solution, this one is a serious and interesting offer.
The case is made of platinum, 41, 5 mm big, which is good, 14, 6 mm high, which is quite thick. Without speaking of the weight, quite important.
The perpetual calendar, complete, with a moon phase accurate to one day each 122, 6 years, can be set, in a synchronized way, through the pusher at ten o' clock. The days and the months are not that easy to read. But since we don't read time anymore, but as we admire it...
The Chronograph is flyback, with jumping minutes.
The Tourbillon has a stop second.
As for the movement, the Cal 952-2 is superlative in its decoration and in its characteristics:
- 59 jewels, which is not exceptional, but less common, 1 diamond, too.
- 5 screwed gold chatons.
- 729 parts!
And, last but ont least, very impressive to look at. Sculptural.
This movement beats at the quite pace of 18000 vibrations per hour, and has a power reserve of 50 hours.
One last detail, the power reserve, located between 9 and 10 o' clock. Discrete and original, a bit the same than the one of the JLC Extreme Lab 2.
Here are the few pictures I could take:
The bomb:
No bad, not bad... Even if I would still prefer a Datograph first generation, a Langematik Perpetual and a Lange One Tourbillon.
Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,
Best,
Nicolas
