As the guests arrived, they were treated to interactive activity tables that demonstrated various watch-making techniques such as the polishing of minute watch components on diamond paper, one of the many finishing techniques employed at A. Lange & Söhne, as well as the assembly of minute regulatory screws onto the balance wheel. In the spirit of fine German craftsmanship, Leica Camera was also invited to be a partner for this launch event. All guests were loaned a Leica D-Lux 5, an elegant compact digital camera, to capture their very own memories of the special evening.

that gentlemen collector has over 30 Langes, including several PLMs, I believe I hope to convey the classic Lange hospitality. Thanks for viewing. what are your thoughts on the new Datograph up/down? have you seen it live? best, Horo

Sorry to jump in... ... I don't have a problem with the new U/D version. Yup, I "approve" it :-) I think I could handle 41mm size in this case. Long PR is the biggest appealing point. But since I have the original one, for now, I don't have a reason to replace it in a hurry ...

i really like the Dato U/D...but i have two "problems" 1) I like the Double Split too, and 2) I am also long the old Dato...actually...see picture... :(- Best, Horo ...

ONE technical inferiority has the new Dato! It seems as if the new one is thechnically upgraded a lot by new higher power reserve, the inhouse hairspring and also an inhouse mainspring ... . The powerse reserve indicator is the main DESIGN criticism for many, as it is a consequence of the new, stro...

It was a fantastic evening.... and Lange and Leica have done a few co-events. the assumption is the two are complementary in customers segments. there were several brilliant photo submissions for the contest, which I unashamedly attempted, and predictably failed to even make the cut in...

a pair of RLs howdy Mark, yes, its a watch that has the hallmarks of everything i look for in a 'simple" three hand...very much like the Laurent Ferrier, simplicity in interface, complexity in mechanism and material. whilst not quite PLM "standards"....it represents to...

I didn't know! but I can understand it very much. You know I had a 1815 "new version" for a while (watch I was not satisfied with on an aesthetics standpoint) but I always found the RL much more attractive to me. Especially the roman numerals that are thin and long whic...

SIHH 2012: Lange & Söhne, a solid collection

I arrived at the SIHH on Tuesday so I first discovered the Lange novelties through the Press releases. I will be frank with you: I had a slight feeling of disappointment when I read them due to the impression of "deja-vue". But, as always, it is difficult to judge watches without seeing them in the metal. So I prefered to see and to handle them before drawing any conclusion especially when it comes from my fav manufacture! It was a requirement with this new collection: it appears to be much more subtle than at first glance and more important, more ambitious.
