Yes, already three years, since the first day I drove my P 1800 back from Amsterdam:

none

To this day.

Three years of trips, work, holidays, good moments, and also some small issues, but nothing compared to the pleasure this Volvo gave me, or should I say, gave US, as this was, is and will certainly be a family project.

Three years, and 27 000 Kilometers done.

A mega road trip to Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

none

Another road trip to South of France:

none

In Normandy:

none

In the center of France:

none

In Belgium and Netherlands, past year.

none

none

In Bourgogne:

Always alive and kicking, everywhere:

none

And in many other places.

As I said, I had very few mechanical issues, with this P 1800E, and it always had the good taste to happen in... Gaz Stations!  none

The funnt thing is that my 10 years old daughter loves that one so much that she always prefer to travel with the P 1800 rather than with the more comfortable C 70 T5.

At a point that she told me she wanted that car for her, later...

Long life to the P 1800, and to many many more years.

Best,

Nicolas

The love affair continues. Looks like it is now more a member of the family than just a car. Love it. Bill

She is seeing too much of PP advertising ;) Lovely pictures, and kudos for using it properly - i.e. being driven properly and lots. Children seem to connect much better to old cars, wonder why that is. And as said in the title, only taking care of it for the next generation, right?

Well, I think it has something to see with the fact that... At that time, cars had their own personality. A Renault was a Renault, a Peugeot a Peugeot, and a Volvo could well be an italian. Seriously, cars had their own personality, and maybe too, much more charm than the current production. So, children are more ...

There is no doubt that we are attracted to the older cars But we also have a historical relationship to them. Not sure whether a child of today would know what a Renault from back in the day was supposed to be famous for. At the same time I agree that cars did have more character and that is appealing. Any other...

The design. When a E Type had such a long hood, and some other cars from the same era... Now I fear it will not be accepted by any reglementation. Even if a F Type made me madly fall in love... Best, Nicolas

Confessions of An Aspiring Speedracer

Lamborghini Beverly Hills sponsors a "trackday" at The Thermal Club The fascination with racing transcends time and culture. There is something about pushing a high performance machine to its limit that evokes a natural high. We are oragnically conditioned to want to go faster; we are conditioned to upgrade, customize, and flex our muscles, whether with the bodies we are born with or with the racing machines we create. In the past, this fascination was lived vicariously through the documented lives of professional racers whose exploits on international tracks were nothing more than dreams and fantasy.
