another Purist asked me to name the post like this - here we go none

The teaser for this post (shown in the WristScan forum) was:

none

for Nicolas & PinkPanther (orange; 1, 7, 8) none

Anyway, what was it all about? It was about bulls and fights.
Even there was (some) blood, I don´t talk about bullfights from Spain.

none

What else is shown at that picture? Well, we will see later ...

none

I was invited to the first race weekend of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo 2010, in Hockenheim. The fastest one-make series in the world.
Altogether three PuristS have been invited and two attended. The third was impeded in London, because of the volcano clouds :-(

But let me start with some impressions of the race.

Shall we let them out?

none

Ok, ok, here we go ...

none

To watch the race was good fun, but it was even better to go closer ...

none

and I mean not only the award ceremony. It is great if you are allowed to go closer, to get the feeling and the emotions of that kind of events.

After the races at the first day there have been passenger laps. I had to wait until the second day, but took the chance to take some more pictures for you none

The Super Trofeo is more or less a gentlemen driver race. If someone has a race licence and the money to buy one of the race cars, he can attend.
Lucky them, but hey I was lucky enough to do one round ...

none

... but to be honest, on the wrong side none

none
(Driver from Lamborghini Italy, but with the wrong watch none )

none

It was just one round and I was not the driver, but believe me it was super cool and lots of fun none none none

none

Unfortunately nobody asked me to test the new SLS or at least the old one ...

none

I felt prepared after my first ride in a Lamborghini race car none

Of course there have been races at the second day as well ...

none

none

none

... and some watches with the onlookers ...

none

none

... fans of Marc Hayek ...

none

... and a well known face for frequent Basel visitors amongst the onlookers ...

none

Any guesses who he is?

none

And now? Willy Moret, an unicum, an artist, a watchmaker, a key person within Blancpain.

... and some more cars ...

none

Is it still called a car? ...

none

Maybe a supercar none

The Pace Car during a brake, infront of the Lambo Truck and the VIP area.

none

A CEO preparing his speech ...

none

none

... and two CEOs holding their speech ...

none

Three gentlemen (drivers) ...

none

discussing their races ...

none

Marc Hayek (CEO of Blancpain), Martin Brundle (former F1 driver, moderator, ...) and his son.

Visiting the mechanics of Reiters Engineering ...

none

to have one more look behind the scenes ...

none

none

Is it a brake or is it a brake?

none

none

Anyway, the orange should look familiar to some of you none

none

none

And my humble contribution with an engine behind ...

none

none

... ähhh, not the engine ...

none

This is an engine ...

none

... isn´t it none

Next to the races, the cars, the gi ...s (yes Thomas, there have been some none ), there have been some aficionados of watches as well.

Back to the race:

Blancpain Reiter Engineering’s Marc A. Hayek and Peter Kox claimed two victories and a second-place finish at the first round of the 2010 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season at Hockenheim, Germany, on 23-25 April 2010.

Hope I could cover a little bit the spirit of a great weekend and that you liked it. For me it was great fun to attend and to meet one more Purist in person.
By the way when I was invited last year, I couldn´t attend because of the European PuristS GTG in London none

living the moment through you....... I am so envious! You brought back some great memories of me going to the Audi event held at the California Speedway last year when I drove the S5 and got a ride in the R8. Unlike you, I dropped my camera and didnt take any photographs at the event :-(. In...

It's a funny thing, Oliver . . . . . . I've been to hundreds of baseball games and scores of football games, but memories are few and far between. On the other hand, I've been to only a dozen races, but have vivid memories of all of them. One of the best is of dozens of De Tomaso Pantera...

You did excellent, Oliver, thanks for this vroom-vrooming report! ... why does it smell like gasoline in my room? Or is it even kerosine? Outstanding atmospheric pics, I enjoyed them a lot! Cheers, Magnus

Yesterday, with Doug, we were invited by Audemars-Piguet to attend the start of the Tour de France Automobile. A great opportunity to see an impressive gathering of fantastic cars. Please find in the next posts my "best-off", a selection of the cars I liked. But I'm not a specialist: this selection is just a feeling! Enjoy the pics ! Let's start with the french cars: Not sure it is french: Fr.Xavier This message has been edited by DRMW on 2010-04-21 01:29:03.
