This or that - white gold or ADLC titanium

I've been having discussion with a collector about the Santos Dumont in WG or ADLC titanium. He is torn on which to get. My own vote is for the WG, though I can see the attraction of the titanium. I prefer the WG because of the brighter colour, and the fact that it brings out the shape and finishing of the movement better.

What would you pick, irrespective of price?

Agree with you SJX The White Gold does bring out the features of the movement and finishing better. S

One vote for Ti, assuming... ... the watch is water-resistant (at least 10ATM), and I change the strap to more sporty one. :-) The lighter the better! Ken

One vote for the titanium For me the looks and the feel of the titanium version are irresistible. My favorite from the FWM collection. But the readability of the white gold version, with it's blued hands is better. Still prefer the titanium version. GEO

A tough This or That The WG if the watch is going to be used primarily as a dress or special occasion piece. The Ti if it is going to be worn more often and regularly -- I fear that the rather wide bezel in WG will scratch easily if worn less than very carefully. This is prob...

Titanium Just because I try to have each one of my watches be unique in a way if possible. Currently I don't have any titanium watches. With that being said, the design of this watch, regardless of wg or ti, is pretty unique.

As much as I love Ti, for this watch I must say WG I feel the ADLC give the Ti a darker tone which does seem a bit off for such movement. WG is a much better material for this watch. ... ... a non ADLC Ti might be perfect. JX can you do something about it ;) Regards Tyler

Delivery of possibly the last Cartier Tortue enamel jaguar watch

The Tortue XL with jaguar motif was unveiled at SIHH last year as part of the Cartier d’Art collection of artistic timepieces. The Tortue jaguar was one of the highlights of the fair for me, and it is without a doubt the most striking enamelled wristwatch Cartier has made in recent years. That was proven by the market reaction - all 80 pieces were sold out in a flash. Several collectors are looking for one, with no luck.
