Another GP from the 1990s - the Ref. 2598 chronograph

Keeping with the theme of finding interesting GP watches from the 1990s (new to me, I suppose well known here), one that I have found recently is this lovely looking Ref. 2598. Part of the Vintage 1960 cushion shaped series (that did not quite possess the longevity of the 1945 series) it is one of the more elegant examples - and especially important for some, comes without a date window.

It has two subcounters, with one being for the running seconds (3 o'clock) and the other a permanent 24h counter. Both minutes and seconds for the chrono function are being displayed with central hands.

I find the gold and blue combination on the white / cream dial and in a SS case to be fairly appealing, especially with the small red accents to liven up the combination. And the 38mm square shaped case is a good size, too.

The movement - a Cal. 2280 is - AFAIK - not a manufacture caliber but I am sure other members can tell us more none

In any case, a pretty sweet offering from the 1990s in my humble opinion. Thanks for viewing!

Your photo is excellent. And this is a fascinating watch. The functions for a chronograph are highly unusual-at least in my experience. Glad you found, and posted, this.

Thank you Padj! I cannot take credit for the photo but like it myself And the watch is definitely unusual in its setup, although such setups were more common in the 1970s from what I've seen...

I'm deeply impressed by this GP Chrono, KMII. Not sure if due to your great picture or the watch itself.

Thanks KMII. I love the look of this one. GP is another brand on my "want to own" list, and an older model like this could be just the ticket.

I immediately thought also... ...WOW ! You learn fast with your new lens since your last pic of the Raketa Everything in this pic was just nice (background, focus, light...) almost as nice as a Jocke's pic, no joke As for the watch itself, I agree it can probably be quite appealing fo...

The Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver 8867 V vs 8867 W – Deep into the details

Friends, I have been talking a lot about the Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver reference 8867 over the past years… And no wonder, it is such a cool and in the same time elegant watch! While collectors of many other brands talk about different versions within the same reference, we GP collectors are happy to find just one watch, while many other brand collectors are able to build a collection just around one reference! Starting to divide by year, batches, different details on the dial, etc. … Mk I, Mk II, Mk III…. A special lingo is developed and in the end you need big books just to learn the basic! Well, we haven’t seen this kind of development within vintage GP (yet). Why? I am not sure but I do have my theories… For one, not that watches around to begin with.
