Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater with Annual Calendar and EOT

We have been promising big things from GP in 2013 and before we have even recovered from the new year, GP has released an impressive piece of haute horlogerie in the 1966 Minute Repeater with Annual Calendar and EOT.

Those of us who fell in love with the movement of the 1966 Minute Repeater from last year will love this addition to the 1966 range. We now have a discreet pointer date, month indicator and the quirky equation of time complication to balance the dial.

I took these photos of the prototype at the Manufacture in October and you can see the depth achieved and the subtle brushed sunburst background. The newly designed chiselled indices, in solid rose gold, are also a nice detail – and we will see subtle design evolution of the indices of other watches in the 1966 range soon.

The watch measures 42mm in diameter and houses the delicious manual wind Cal. E09-0003 which uses two hammers to beat out the hours, quarters and minutes. The watch is on a simple rose gold buckle and will be limited to 15 pieces in this configuration. The stuff of dreams from Girard-Perregaux.

I much prefer the " simplicity " of the Minute Repeater " only ". Much more sober and clean, I find. But it seems that GP will have a great year, this year. Can't wait to see what they will unveil. Best, Nicolas

Happy New year Andrew. Than you for this brief review.. Although not very fond of the dial's layout, I find the design and architecture of the mouvement very pleasant and interesting, the finish looks (from the picture) quite exquisite toped by the trade mark GP balance cock design and the superb finish...beau...

I really find this watch fantastic. I much prefer this dial, more contemporary. I've always been a fan of the Annual Calendar dial lay-out. I can't wait to discover it in the metal! Thanks Andrew! Fx

not so sure about this… Thanks Andrew for showing us this piece, you are one lucky fellow to try such pieces on your wrist. However, I do have some concerns with the recent developments at GP, even the Hawk like does not 100% convince me: Here is what I like: the manual movement...

Agree there is too much asymmetry for my taste... Mo

MMh last years repeater very hard to beat... iI find the addition of more complication polluting the stylistic perfection that was the MR. Not convinced much even though the movement is a beauty to behold. Mo

I am feeling exactly the same. Which is an hommage to the last year MR.

Great looking watch I think that it's a great looking watch. Like others mentioned, size is a little large, but personally, I prefer 40mm. And, it will be out of my price range in any case, so... As far as EOT being a useless complication. Well, if you really look at it, mec...

Many of you prefer the simplicity of ... ... the original repeater. Without doubt the this watch, with its simple enamel dial, oozes refinement and classicism. The new repeater with annual calendar and EOT is much more modern and edgy. Both are housed in a 42mm case which optimizes sound quality...

"Y a pas photo" as the French say, the simple dial is.... in my opinion far more appealing and in white metal..olala! Cheers, Francois

Choices: 40mm or 42mm 1966 Chronograph?

We now have two options in the 1966 Chronograph line: the original 40 x 12.05 mm (Ref. 49539) in RG and WG (available with white or blue dial) which I have previously written in detail about [ click here ] and the 42 x 12.53 mm (Ref. 49542) introduced in April 2012 with the addition of a date display at 6 o’clock and some design changes to the dial. The 40mm version houses the Cal.
