Girard-Perregaux Accessories: Damier ref 7427 Box and Paper

Friends,

Did you know that Girard-Perregaux made special papers for the Damier?!

Neither did I until recently…

none

Earlier I have shown you the watch…

none

… the catalogue…

German catalogue 1963:

none

… the ad…

Italian ad 1965:

none

I even showed you the store sign:

Swedish store sign 1960 (same reference 7427 minus the Damier dial):

none

Now I am able to show you the box and paper as well!

none

This time from Mexico.

The box is a generic Girard-Perregaux box used in the 1960s. Red with gold decorations.

none

This type of box I have seen in several versions and decorations including different colours.

What makes this box special and interesting in the context of the Damier is the paper I found inside!

“Certificate of origin and warranty.” Notice the Damier similar to the GP logo at that time.

none

“Certificate of origin and warranty
We certify that this high quality watch Damier, has been built in our workshops with carefully selected materials.
The work in the manufacture and minute controls it has undergone allow us to guarantee against defects in construction in conditions of normal use care.
The factory warranty is valid from this day to one year.”

none

As you can see this is a blank paper for the Damier.

A collector’s dream is of course to find a watch in perfect condition including box and papers…

But as you might have realized by now, that is not a very easy thing to come by…

And from a personal perspective I think even more rare within GP than some other brands…

So to find the watch in good condition…

none

…including the original strap and buckle…

none

…and matched with the box, blank paper and assorted goodies…

none

…is a good start!

From here we at least know what to look for...

none

Best

Blomman

PS. I think this is my most international watch of all!

none

Watch: Origin Switzerland, bought in Germany including strap and buckle.

German catalogue, Italian ad, Swedish store sign, Mexican Box and Paper.

An unfamiliar one for me. Glad to learn something new today. Is there any reason why this watch is so "internationalized"?

Friends, As they say “time flies when you're having fun”. And the same goes for posts here in the forum! Feels like yesterday my count was at 10.000 and I put up the Girard-Perregaux sign… A few years and 15.000 posts down the line I am back to another watch that binds my two favourite brands together… For those of you that don’t remember my 9.999 post: The topic was the JLC Master Quartz. It is a known fact that Girard-Perregaux had a leading role in the quartz movement development and that JLC used the ... .
