Girard Perregaux Laureato Evo 3 Big Date

I just got this the other day and seeing that there hasn't been too many posts about the watch (I've heard they are still pretty hard to come by) I figured I'd post some thoughts on it so far. This is my 3rd GP and since my first one, I've been a big fan of the brand. GP's craftsmanship is right up there with the top houses in the world. Maybe it's just a matter of taste but I could never understand why GP doesn't get the respect it rightfully deserves.  With that being said, here are some comments and photos:

The dial is very well done, I've never been much of a waffle dial fan but GP did a nice job with it. The moon phase is one of my favorites, I really like the contrast of the red second hand as well as the configuration of the power reserve indicator. The lume on this watch is great.

The bracelet is very comfortable and has a nice clean look to it.

As you can see, the case is fairly thin which probably adds to the watch's comfort.

The clasp design could have been done better, the deployant only releases one end then you have to pull the other end to get the watch on and off. I haven't seen a deployant work this way before.

I would have preferred that GP didn't put writing on the back crystal. It makes it harder to get a good view of the movement.

The packaging is as good as anyone’s out there for a watch in this price range.

Here are some wrist shots.

As I said earlier, this watch is right up there quality wise with the top brands. It's certainly right in line with these two.

GP is a company that wants to be held in the same breath as the top 5 brands, the end product is definitely there. What I believe the company is still missing is the cache of the other brands. This could probably be improved if GP started buy up all those vintage 4 to 7 hundred dollar pieces floating around on the bay. I’m not trying to be critical of the company but as I said in the beginning of this post, I would love to see GP start getting to respect it deserves. All in all this is a very fine watch and I would highly recommend trying it out. I hope the review is helpful!
