Thoughts about the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Ceramic

Friends,

Not long ago we got news about the Laureato Ceramic and now Girard-Perregaux released the Laureato Skeleton Ceramic!

These are still watches I am waiting to see in real but from the look of the PR material I am very hopeful!

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Ceramic:

This new ceramic version has the same base as the steel version: 42mm case, Calibre GP01800-0006, integrated bracelet.

So, what’s new?

The movement, PVD treated to match the black ceramic. Giving the movement a bit more focus, IMO.

More prominent look than on the steel version.

But this doesn’t make only the PVD treated parts to stand out, so does the steel parts as well.

One interesting detail that shows more clearly here is how the hour indexes are coming out like teeth from the minute track.

The broad steel hands are easy to read and by keeping the “GIRARD-PERREGAUX” in gold, a very nice balance is kept together

with the balance wheel and around on the back with the Pink Gold rotor.

The combination of Skeleton and Ceramic; I find the combination both strong and logical!

The black case and bracelet gives the watch a very strong, resistant look.

Yes, we all know that ceramic may break if too brute force, but during any normal wear, the ceramic is more resistant to dings and scratches than steel.

Another good quality of ceramic is its light weight. That in combination with the Skeleton movement I think is both logical and a winning combination.

Strong, featherweight, great looking!

That Girard-Perregaux opted for a full ceramic bracelet instead of taking the easy way out and only do the ceramic case I applaud!

It would have been very easy just to put this one on a black leather strap and say “done”. Instead go the full distance and making the bracelet as well,

I think is the right move. Gives the watch a much more complete “Sport Chic” look!

Yes, this is a watch I hope to see in the “ceramic” soon to be able to give you a first-hand impression!

Looks really good from the pictures.  Usually I am not drawn too much towards skeletonized warches. Many of them look way too floral and baroque for my tastes. But these clean and blackened lines of the skeletonized Laureato movement in combination with the ceramic case give it a consistency ...

Re: Many too floral and baroque.... I absolutely agree, Martin! This one do not fall into that category - the look is modern and fresh. I hope the feel, once I get to see this in real will be the same! Best Blomman

Looking phantastic. The contrast with the RG rotor is very nice.

Absolutely gorgeous movement and finishing. I would prefer a strap option, though, as I have no interest in a full ceramic bracelet - too much ceramicsurface exposed to potential damage....  Perhaps something like the VC strap change system?

Well, the regular leather strap for the 42mm Laureato... Not sure, but looks like it would work! Best Blomman

Kind of king of cool watch. Funny how the size works well with that kind of watch. Nice presentation, Blomman.

Friends, Girard-Perregaux is really pushing the rebirth of the Laureato, new versions of this year are not over yet… This time it is one for the ladies, the Laureato 34 mm Royalty Limited Edition! Or should we call it “Blue Diamond”? This Limited Edition has a different blue dial, clearer, brighter blue. The dial still with the beautiful Clous de Paris pattern, but the date disk is not matching as on the regular version which gives a good contrast to read the date. The blue dial is surrounded by 56 diamonds ... .
