Does China have haute horological long standing makers

justpen

Given that the first recorded escarpments were invented and used in China, and the enormity of the continual Chinese history of clock making, I would like to ask if China has any;

* Long standing watch making houses that are still in production and

* If they have a heritage equal to, or even possibly longer than the German makers, or the French horologists that fled to Switzerland during the Revolution?

* Who are they, and

* Any photos of any of their fine pieces.

Kindest regards,

Jack

The keywords are "long time"...... Jack, "Love you long time".....? The answer to your exact question is "No"... no chinese watch making company today has been in business for 200 years. There must be watch manufacturing history in China for a century or more because Bovet used to make wat...

Thanks MTF.... Thanks MTF, So what you are saying is that the oldest continous watch making company is The Shanghai Watch company and ti only goes back to 1955. That is actually amazing that a culture so continuous could have a vacuum of such a commodity. I can understa...

Nearly everyone imports watches... ...for the military. Where did Italy get it's watches from, they have a fine industrial history. Where did England get (a lot) their WWW watches from? The Swiss dominated mass-manufacture watches for export, so why would China not import them. No differen...
