PuristS and Donald Corson announce the Corson PuristS 10th UFO-Tourbillon watch

The PuristS' family of horology and luxury websites (ThePuristS.com and PuristSPro.com) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2011, with a gathering of PuristS, friends, watchmakers and sponsors. A number of watchmakers and brands are issuing limited edition or piece unique watches to commemorate a decade of PuristS independence on the horological scene.

The first UFO-Tourbillon will be available to those attending the 10th Anniversary celebrations at IGOTT-2 in Las Vegas, after which, orders can be taken from PuristS worldwide. It is a hand-crafted, Corson movement with half-flying tourbillon and free sprung balance.

PuristS AHCI forum moderator and independent watchmaker, Don Corson explained, "I've been making watches since 2004 and the first place to show them was on PuristSPro website. My design emphasis is on the craft of watchmaking and producing kinetic objects that you want to see and feel every day."

The half-flying tourbillon located above-the-dial, makes a full turn once-a-minute under its highly domed porthole to the Universe.

The 'space ship' in a bead blasted aeronautical-grade titanium case can easily handle any stress that a flight on your wrist can dish out.

The extremely high visibility offered by the half-flying tourbillon design hovering over the dial delivers not only maximum flight safety but also optimal viewing pleasure. Within the lightweight, high impact porthole crafted in PMMA (polymethyl-methacrylate), the power requirements for arm motion are reduced to a minimum.

PMMA
Polymethyl-methacrylate has been marketed as Plexiglas or Lucite or Perspex. It has been used for large commercial aquariums, submersible craft portholes, motorcycle helmet visors, ice hockey rink protection screens, automobile exterior light lenses and transparent aircraft bombardier's domes. Now, PMMA is used for the domed watch glass on the Corson P10 watch.

This is a unique event bringing together members of the PuristS community from across the world.
