Swatch x Audemars Piguet Is Real: Release, Price & Royal Oak Details

The Swatch x Audemars Piguet collaboration confirmed what many dismissed as internet noise: AP and Swatch are working together, and the result is genuinely unusual. Unlike the Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch — which placed a real mechanical calibre inside an accessible Bioceramic case — the AP collaboration appears to centre on accessories from Swatch's Pop and Clac lines. Pocket watches, lanyard straps, and colourway variations seem to be the format rather than a wristwatch.

The reaction among serious AP enthusiasts has been predictably mixed. AP has built its modern identity on scarcity, exclusivity, and a waiting list culture that the Royal Oak helped define. Partnering with Swatch on a £50–£100 accessory sits awkwardly alongside that positioning — though AP is not the first maison to experiment with democratised product lines alongside its core catalogue.

What the collaboration does confirm is that both brands see value in reaching an audience that follows watch culture without participating in it at the collector level. Whether that audience converts into future AP buyers, or simply stays at the Swatch tier, is the real question the brands are betting on.

- Swatch x Audemars Piguet is real

I thought this was just some internet nonesense. Really strange collaboration. Really strange.

What are your thoughts on this, AP-enthusiasts?

none

It is great Good news, it will bring a whole new wave of people into the watch world, and all marketing is good. And it would be pretty ridiculous if someone who owns a genuine AP Royal Oak felt threatened by this, how insecure would you have to be?

Great move by Swatch. Terrible move for AP. I would hope Patek or VC never sink to this level.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Nautilus, Overseas or Type XX in a swatchified version! The plastic version just serves to anchor the watches in the general public’s mind. Did Blancpain‘s or Omega’s brand equity suffer? Personally, I think in both cases it actually increased due to higher notoriety of the brands.

Waiting for the steel cases and bracelets that can be bought on Ali Express to convert the Moonswatch to a steel watch. I wouldn’t mind seeing the same thing for this AP x Swatch. I am not a collector of AP (prefer Patek and Vacheron) but would buy this swatchified version of the Royal Oak and then turn around and convert it to a steel version once the kits on Ali Express ...

When I saw how fantastic the Audemars Piguet booth at Watches and Wonders was, how incredibly friendly the staff were, how helpful, and how completely unarrogant they were, it became clear to me: they must be having sales problems. 😎

I'll be honest, never understood Armin Strom, many friends and fellow Purists are big fans and owners, so out of respect and consideration I kept my mouth shut until now. Watching the excellent video from Marko made me realize that Armin Strom has the inspired by forward design philosophy of FP Journe. FP Journe is an undisputed legend for me, where his design language has a lot of Parisian Art Nouveau Gilt/Brass Romance especially in his earlier pieces, whereas Armin Strom takes the technical beauty of FP ... .
