Jaeger Lecoultre Master Grande Memovox, Limited Edition in Platinum.

There are very few pictures of the Grande Memovox in platinum which are nice.

I found one from Christies, which usually use good pictures, but here, well, not their best:

none

And another one, not bad at all, from " Watchbox ":

none
During my last visit at the Manufacture, in... April 2019, I asked the Heritage Gallery to let me take some pictures of it.

Here they are:

One of the reasons of this relative scarcity is that it is a limited edition of 250 pieces. Launched in the very early 2000's, this Grande Memovox is quite eye catching, with its platinum case and its blue dial.

The combination of a perpetual calendar and an alarm is pretty unique, only Jaeger Lecoultre could imagine that, as the Alarm is one of the Grande Maison Speciality, as you well know.

It sounds like a crystalline school bell, which is pretty pleasing.

The perpetual calendar is complete and can be set through one pusher, located at 8 o' clock. You also have a moon phase,

The movement, the Cal 909, is automatic, which is a good thing for a perpetual calendar.

The dial is busy, with its 8 hands and 4 sub dials, but well balanced.

Eye catching, nice looking, exclusive in platinum, this version also has some flaws:

- It is a bit bold, with its 41, 5 mm case which is pretty thick, with a height of... 15, 5 mm!

- It is heavy, very heavy in platinum.

- It is not very comfortable with its decorated and bombed case back.

- It was a very expensive one, at that time.

But God knows how tempted I was, and not only once, to get it! The most problematic thing was the retail, for me.

One day, maybe...

Best,

Nicolas

I enjoy the case shape on this watch. Rather uniquely proportioned.

Thanks for your opinion, my friend.

The caseback issue is also a problem with my JLC master memovox compressor. The friction of gold medallion and my skin can be really disturbing. Perhaps because of my small wrist?  This watch is amazing. I wish the year has the double digit also to make it more balance

Same for me, with the MC Memovox, too, and this one which I tried for some minutes.

Interesting. Never had comfort issue with the Compressor watches. My lone one, an MCC, is a very comfortable watch that I love to wear. Weighs about 100 grams, but very well balanced on the wrist with a broad strap and tang buckle.

Interesting, indeed. Is your case back flat or domed?

The regular gold medallion caseback.

What's your wrist size, if I may ask?

7.25 inches, or about 18.5 mm in circumference, but fairly flat, so perhaps that is the reason.

Aaah, that may explain why it better sits on your wrist, then.

8 weeks in a row with Jaeger Lecoultre watches only. Or how important is Jaeger Lecoultre to me

And still counting! A bit before the end of the lockdown in France, I started with the Amvox IIP. Then, almost one month with 2 vintage I didn't wear for a while, the Deep Sea Alarm US and Europe. The US: The Europe: And, now I am currently wearing the Duometre à Chronographe in white gold. It is not a secret that I am a multi brand guy, with a bit more than 20 different brands in my collection, but Jaeger Lecoultre has the most important place in my heart and in number of watches.
