Of course it is true, the future is electric, but when one is deep in Baja or other remote areas of Mexico, California, Nevada ... and one's life depends on fixing it yourself, then one's personal "future" quickly becomes grim...
As Elon said in the interview I listened to, "We will have internal combustion side by side with electrics and self-driving cars for 20 years or more, because you can't replace 150,000,000 cars any quicker than that". Just like we had horses on the street during the first few decades of the auto.

Computing power and sensors are the new horsepower. You hit the nail right on the head! I notice my Tesla gets better every couple of months. The continuous software updates do make a positive difference improving the car's smoothness.
