Blancpain

I agree with you to a certain (large) extent...

but I would say that this unfortunately is a consequence of the modern watch market.

Companies of a certain size (and I think Blancpain has that size) are forced to adopt a marketing-driven R&D. What I want to say is that I feel that they do not necessarily chose the most simple and straightforward solution, but the one that delivers technically and provides the most 'WOW' factor.

As per se, there is nothing wrong with this, but this is not pure watchmaking anymore. This is entertainment.

And in the context of the above, the manufacturers carry a sizable responsibility for this development having materialised. They fostered it with their previous marketing effort. And I see the grain of salt.

Best,
Magnus

P.S.: I discussed the use of Kevlar etc, for movement parts with an materials expert from the Formula 1 field. He simply said: why not use aluminium? See the point?
