It was a warm and sunny day in New York city. Arriving at the Blancpain boutique a little past 6’O clock in the evening, one could not help but to immediately notice a crowd of people, the red carpet, and the spotlight shining on the two “beasts” parked right by the curb.
These dream machines - the white 2009 LB715 Gallardo Spyder with a 5.0 Litre V10 engine, and the yellow 2010 147 Murcielago SuperVeloce sporting a whopping 6.5 Litre V12 engine, would certainly make a mechanical enthusiast's blood boil. Although I prefer the soft and sensual curves of the Ferraris, I must admit that the sculpted lines of Lamborghinis certainly make a powerful statement, and are a stunning form of art in itself.
The Murcielago SuperVeloce:
The "wing door" is a famous feature of the "super sports cars". It provide easier access for the driver and the passenger, not to mention a wow effect on passer-bys.=)
I really like the distinctive yellow and black contrast, and the interesting interplay of materials and textures on the car body.
The interiors, with linings in Alcantara (a suede-like, durable, stain and fire-resistant composite material developed in 1970s and manufactured in Italy, used in a few high performance sports cars.)
The stitchings on the dashboard and the seats are of matching yellow color.
The Gallardo Spyder:
This is a much more "tuned-down" version of the Murcielago (if you think there ever exists a "tuned-down" Lambo), with a more humble white color, a normal-functioning door, and a bit more economical miles-per-gallon (the Murcielago averages 9 mpg city/14 mpg highway, and the Gallardo averages 13 mpg city / 20 mpg highway).
The attention to detail is just as great as the Murcielago. Beautiful!
