They might just shorten and angle the lugs as you said, I love the coin edge of Breguet cases, it is iconic and beautiful, I wouldn’t dream of hindering that part of the design for new lugs however I have every confidence in them to come up with a more flattering lug design.

and 36mm might be a perfect size for this beautiful timepiece, but, as you say, this wide 38mm case and dial is really a pleasure to look at ! Enjoy !

With mblum, I think you are exactly right that the date window works better with this dial than the enamel. I'll give another reason: the enamel dial is smooth, clean, undifferentiated, with only painting on it... EXCEPT for the hole cut in it for the dat...
But they didn't just cut a rectangle in the dial and call it a day...
...they shaped it and designed the numbers to follow the shape.
Breguet lugs
Have own few piece of breguet watches with my 17 cm wrist i can wear it perfectly with thier tradition collection, lug a bit straight but not protruded off from the wrist.
