Also, having the tourbillon on the back is a way of getting the best of “both worlds”: having a true “wearing device”, a proper watch telling the time beautifully AND a true “watchmaking or horological device”, with a fascinating mechanism.
Sorry for the low quality photos, but I think this comparison makes a lot of sense and is very interesting : Urban Jürgensen UJ-1 Patek Philippe Ref. 5101P F.P. Journe T30 I really like all three of them and I'm still hesitating on my favorite, but I wond...
Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. Best, Emmanuel
but I think it's probably too long for my wrist. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. Best, Emmanuel
Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. I would gladly loan you one, if I owned any! ;-) Best, Emmanuel
I know of two or three women who seem to frequently wear their 5101s and wear them more often than their male partners. One of these women is quite famous as she's the partner of a famous watchmaker.
And thank you for that reminder! I have two watches I should be winding soon! I'm touched you'd loan me a watch! Very kind! I know you don't say that lightly! Big hug to you my friend!
Now that UJ looks good, but the price is just ridiculous in my view. I think the Patek is great value for money today (relatively speaking). The FPJ is unattractive to me. Dirk
But I'm not sure if it would suit my smallish wrist. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. I would also love to see the UJ, which I like and the FPJ, ...

The PP is very appealing, but might be too long for smaller wrists. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. Best, Emmanuel
The quality of the pieces and the way you captured them more than makes up for the pixel quality! In fact the quality adds a sense of style and ruggedness to the shots! I agree with your choice, but that luscious sheen the PP is undeniable!
I'm glad you like the T30 too. The 5101 is a wonderful timepiece too, but it might not suit smaller wrists very well. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL som...
Kari is an amazing watch maker. No one complains about his stuff? I just don’t know the history. And while we are at it, why zero love in the community writ large for CVDK?
It's just a gorgeous fully-realized piece of work. An all-time great as far as I'm concerned! UJ's movement is super impressive but the case and dial just don't speak to me at all. Journe is a really fantastic watch that, standing completely on its own, M...
I personally much prefer rear tourbillons and the T30 has always felt very appealing to me. I find the 5101 fascinating, but I fear that it is too long for my wrist. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it'...
But would it fit my smaller wrist? I wonder. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. Best, Emmanuel
But if I where in the lucky position to choose between these, the Patek would be the choice if the wearing experience was decisive. But the movement of the UJ is to die for, and would probably win the day. The feeling of knowing what no one else knows is ...

It changes the look of the watch completely. But I'm personally not attracted to blue dials, so I still prefer the salmon (or the 2013 bespoke black dial: www.watchprosite.com ) Best, Emmanuel
But what I would just add is how beautiful the dial is executed when you see it up close. It’s in a different league than the other two. My second pick would be the Patek. PS. The T30 is my grail
It has always been a favorite of mine and the FPJ I would dream to own. I know it'll remain a dream, but one of the nicest I have. I really wish you to be able acquire one someday: it would make so much sense for such a distinctive FPJ collector as you! B...
But would this long case suit my smaller wrist? I wonder. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece and I hope to see one IRL someday. Best, Emmanuel
Three incredible watches, and an impossible choice. That has always been my favorite Patek, but I’ve never had a chance to try one on. Hopefully one day…
Like you, I hope to be able to try on the 5101 someday. But would it suit my smaller wrist? I have doubts. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece. Best, Emmanuel

The T30 is my favorite Journe and it could be my pick between the three. I also love the 5101, but would it fit my smaller wrist? I have doubts. Also, as I love to wind my watch daily, the 10-Day PR does nothing for me. That said, it's a stunning piece an...

What a comparison! Three very different philosophies of tourbillon watchmaking at the absolute pinnacle of the craft. Thanks for this wonderful report. Bill
Yes, this is an incredible trio showing how incredibly creative even very traditional watchmaking can be. Owning any of the three would be pure joy! Best, Emmanuel
