Horological Meandering

Like you, I'm not sure I'm crazy about the case neither.

But sometimes these things look better in person and then I'm really humbled. Personal story: when I first saw the Patek Philippe Nautilus, I thought it looked strange, and I thought it had ears. "I'd rather have a Rolex Submariner than that weird Nautilus," is what I said. Well, a few years later, after I finished college, I was certain that I was going to get a Patek 6000G. I wanted the 240 caliber, I wanted the deployment buckle, I liked the design, and I was ready to write a check. The Nautilus was available - but I didn't want it (this over a decade ago when the Nautilus was not popular and still available). Somehow, someone suggested I try on the Nautilus, just for fun, and just to rule it out... When I strapped on the Nautilus, the 5712, which also had the 240 caliber I really wanted, something just changed in me - the design made sense, and it looked good on my wrist! The decision was made that day and the Nautilus became my first watch. So... Point being, maybe the Fleming case looks better in person on the wrist.
