Good for everyone involved reaping the rewards from their hard work but I get the feeling this isn't good for actual watch lovers/collectors/... and the likes.


Watches are already being used as investment pieces and now with companies like Chanel getting into Journe and Watchbox with De Bethune, whatever Hodinkee is doing with Crown and Caliber. Someone is pushing their agenda or steering them in a certain direction. 


I read a story (perhaps on here) from a company who had several watches listed from an independent brand, which weren't selling at those listed prices. All were taken down and then every few x weeks they listed only one example online, and it sold for that high price because they were creating the feeling that there were none and if you wanted one, you have to pay. Even though they had a lot in stock. 

It's a way to make money but too many people became too greedy. You even see it with happening to other hobbies. Going from collecting baseball cards, to pokemon, to actual video games, ...
