I agree, Marv...
you're basic notion of emphasizing the original elements of the Geophyisic coincides with mine. And I also agree that 38mm would be the perfect compromise.
And while Nicolas had many valuable things to say, "Add a big see through case back." is one with which I would disagree. Much like the contemporary IWC Ingenieur, I do not like the idea of gutting one of the essential elements of the original for aesthetic purposes.

72 hours is a usability thing
72 hours of PR means it can be a "weekday" watch, that you needn't wind during the weekend. I think using the 2 barrels of the cal. 875, but geared for precision rather than 8 days, would give you a flat enough torque curve for 3 days A
