JLC Amvox 5 - A problem - waiting to see JLC's response

All,

If this isn't appropriate to post here then apologies and I will remove it but I thought this might be of interest as it unfolds...

Haven't posted for a while, been very content with my small and varied collection.  But my pride and joy (Amvox 5) stopped on my wrist on Monday morning.

Now this gets worn once or twice a week and never any where 'dangerous' where it might get damaged.  So it was a shock when it stopped at about 11am on a Monday morning at work.  Normal routine, I'd decided to wear it for work on Monday so gave it a short wind on Sunday  (it has a 72 hour power reserve and hadn't worn it since Thursday.)  All's well until noon on Monday when I look at my watch and it say 11am...  Strange I thought but I'd only driven to work and been in meetings so maybe it hadn't been wound enough on my wrist.  Wound it manually and reset the time and it stopped again Monday evening and it only runs for about an hour now on a wind.  Plus it sounds noisy when I shake it to see if the rotor is moving.

It's times like this when I wish it had a display back!!!  - Checking the warranty, of course it's a few months out of the 2 years - what a surprise :-(

Off to the AD (who no longer stocks JLC) and they check it over and declare it in pristine condition so clearly nothing untoward there.  So it's off to JLC in London to see what they say (with a strong letter from the AD trying to encourage a sensible response from JLC.)

This watch was a present from my wife and is way valuable than I would normally spend on a watch (and it also has great sentimental value behind the gift) and I'm hugely disappointed that it should just stop.  I'm hoping that JLC will open it up and find it's nothing serious, but I'm dreading the call that it's more serious and off to Switzerland and then a bill for £1000 or so for a service, parts etc etc etc.  To be honest I can't afford that at the moment so it's likely to be a no on the repair if it's that much.

I think it will be interesting to see JLCs response - I've seen huge variations in their responses to these types of problems on other forum.

Once again, apologies if it's not appropriate to post this here and I will remove it.
