Yes. Big warm welcome to the OP (original poster).

Did something make you suspect it? Or have you just heard that you should stay away from overpolished watches? The 5110 is also not very easy to detect as is has no sharp edges and is very rounded from the beginning.

Ditto what VintageCollector stated. Sometimes it's really difficult to tell an over polished 5110, being all convex and rounded surfaces with few if any sharper angles. Let's say I was an inexperienced polisher. I would have removed the strap from the lug... 

This could be a permanent clause for a beginners guide to watch shopping.

I would say beginners might want to start at the authorized dealer. Yes, they may be paying a premium, but you need to gain some experience before buying used watches. I've been sold so many "dubious" watches - some were outright frauds. Funny thing, many...

Too clean, too suspect.

A beginner doesn't know who to trust because he doesn't know what questions to ask and he doesn't know how to verify the answers to the questions. He needs a little more experience. Hence, he doesn't know if he should trust this seller or not. He may not ... 

And unfortunately we're very experienced Amanico... We've both been cheated many times - often by auction houses. Antiquorum sold me a Lange (that wasn't a Lange), but when I took it to Lange for restoration, they opened the watch and we both said at the ...

But there was no excuse for the mistake. The movement clearly did not say Lange on it. Did they even read the name printed on the movement??? Or did they just take the consignor's word on everything? Just a lot of shoddy work. And they're unfortunately no...

Agree with all of the above. If a watch comes from Chrono24 where the money is held in escrow waiting your approval, you're safe. Having said that, if I were to buy one from there it would be local, i.e. the U.S. for me. And since business is based on the...

The case design of the 5110 doesn’t have a lot of sharp lines (not like a 5970/5070) so it’s harder to spot overpolishing.. also the case is in platinum, which is harder to overpolish.. Given these 2 factors I won’t worry too much about it But I would rea...

The inner lug doesn't really get scratched. Thus, it should never be heavily polished. But if it is, and you see the inner lug isn't quite straight, that could be the sign of an inexperienced polisher. Good advice Dms!
