The following is intended to be helpful.  But it might not be helpful in the practical sense...

First of all.  Welcome to WatchProSite.

Second.  You are taking a big risk, and frankly put, you don't really know what you're doing.  We all had to start somewhere and I've probably done silly things too - so don't take this as an affront to you.  I personally don't buy used watches anymore because I learned it was a minefield.

Third.  It's not quite obvious from the photographs that the watch is over polished or not over polished.  Even with my keen eye, I can't quite tell.  I'm also looking at the points in the lugs and I cannot definitively tell if they're over polished.  For instance, if I could see obvious curving at the points of the lugs, then I would suspect they were over polished.  But I don't see that because the photo quality isn't revealing.  And white metal watches against a white background can be difficult sometimes.

Fourth.  This might not be practical.  But you should really go meet the watch and meet the seller.  That way you can make the determination with the watch in your hand.  I realize, that this might not be possible due to distance.  In such a case, I would simply wait until another watch comes up.  If you live in a rural area or not near a major city, that wait could be too long and thus not an option you'd consider.  But basically, nobody whose opinion is worth their salt, will give you definitive actionable advice without seeing a watch (unless the photos provide a better and more obvious view of the condition).  And if someone does give you advice without seeing the watch (or better photos), based on this kind of photography, then perhaps they give their advice too freely and indiscriminately.

Fifth.  You use the word "over polished" and this is an opinion.  What may be over polished to you may not be over polished to another person.  And I may find a watch over polished where you may find it "gently polished."  Opinions are not always "actionable."  And information that is not "actionable" shouldn't move you nor sway your decision.  Facts can be sometimes valuable.  And facts should be used to sway your opinion.  And unfortunately, the photos your seller has provided are just not definitive.  And even if we both had the watch in our hands; our definitions of "overpolished" might differ.

In summary; I highly recommend you take the time and the expense to go see the watch in person.  Or, if the watch is located in a major city where you have a friend who can see it on your behalf (that friend would have to be fairly knowledgeable about your tastes and watches and to be able to judge "overpolished" as you would).  Good luck!  The 5110 is a great watch!  And one of my favorite watches to boot!  I don't know what the pricing is - but if you find the pricing is lower than other equivalent watches you're considering, then, it may be worth taking the risk.  We don't discuss pricing on WatchProSIte - it's against the rules - so I can't say more than that obvious remark.

Hope this was of some help to you!  Although, I realize it might not be practical to see the watch in person.
