Its never easy to choose or pick 1, as there are just so many references! I guess the way to go about it is to follow a flow chart approach, and be cognisant of the fact that not every detail you want, is carried by a single referrence. The 3796dj, althou...  

In the same price range preowned there are lots of enamel Breguet watches to consider as well. Food for thought.

But...I'm looking for that 1 calatrava first...just something extra special and romantic about patek on the wrist for me

I have been looking closely at the three references 5115, 5116 and 5119. While each has its charm, I wonder if I don’t prefer the 5116: I think the welded lugs would work better for me here than the case shape of 5115 with “integrated” lugs and crown guar... 

The point about the smaller Roman numerals, plus solid caseback are the negatives in my mind too. However, the hobnail bezel and crown guard, plus case to lug seamless flow is to me simply sexy. Even the side profile... Difficult choice...till now, I am h... 

At 35mm, too small for me, but if you're looking at between 33-36mm, then it seems like a great option.

The 5116 r in particular is a very, very nice Calatrava. The 5115 is too much retro, as amanico also mentioned.

The beauty of patek having so many permutations in its selections.... Anything about the enamel dial on the 5116 that you can comment on my dear Count ?

Makes perfect sense to equipt a watch like this with an enamel dial.

Hobnail bezel, no date, crown guards, smaller size Roman numerals… I believe no other ref ticks all boxes apart from 5115 😉 On top of that I believe the caliber 215PS fits better in the 5115 than in 5116 as the seconds subdial looks better balanced on the... 

Letting all of this sink in...but as days go by, beginning to be clear that I really love that crown guard look Rishikesan

Appreciate your reply. I too think its unique different calatrava yet has a modern touch on top of its traditional craftwork Rishikesan

(with crown guard and desirable screw back case), versatile (dress up/dress down), more interesting and substantial looking case. And overall prefer it aesthetically.

I think your summary of thoughts echo mine as well. Something about the case design that I find so appealing. Of course, one can wish for other hypothetical add ons ie applied hour markers/applied breguet numerals...but its time I get something that doesn...
