The vintage 3448 beauty arrived just a few hours ago. As I'm getting older my eyesight is not the best but my first reaction was that this was a rose gold and NOT a yellow gold watch, as it was advertised. After I pulled out my other yellow and rose gold ...
It really doesn't seem possible, alas. Compare something like this to a 5320, and even the recent 8 days Calatrava and the design language seems...lost.
Of course, everything is absolutely kosher. The seller is a VERY well known and established reseller of estate jewelry and watches (decades of history and feedback) I have seen detailed pictures of the beautiful caliber 27-460 Q, serial number of the cali...
and drop if off at the Henri Stern Agency because they will send it to Geneva without a doubt anyway. On the other hand flying to Geneva might be more fun.
May I suggest XRF testing. It is noninvasive, not too expensive, and you should be able to get someone near you to run the test. Would definitely tell you metal composition if yellow or rose gold. Good luck and please keep us posted ! - Sebastian
you would be owning the second known example of ref. 3448 in rose gold. As you have read, the Freccero recently sold as lot 74 at Phillips has been called "the only one known". Anyway, Patek Philippe and an XFR test will give you all the necessary informa...
I'm already ABSOLUTELY thrilled with the watch, whatever the metal it ends up to be.. If it's yellow gold, of course I'm perfectly all right with that. If it's Rose ...well, that would be something special for sure.
Your fantastic 3448 is around 50 years old, and if a high copper alloy was used, then time will turn it more red. You said it is a highly reputable seller, where you bought your watch. I don't think that someone who makes a living out of selling watches a...
Im going to tag on 2-3 days on that trip and drop off the watch in PP Geneva for service. I'll know what metal it is, as soon as they will present the estimate.
A true gem and a pleasure to see, thank you for sharing. As for whether it is rose or not, I have no doubt it will still be as sweet. Enjoy it in good health.
I absolutely love the watch for its history, looks and how it fits on my wrist already. As far as which metal it is, that's just a short term mistery and curiosity for me.
It’s amazing how similar tastes we have in watches. What a gem and one i seriously consider adding after ive done some serious cleaning in my collection.
Great idea for it go to Geneva, to have it examined and serviced and to get an Extract. I hope you will let us know what they have to say. As you probably know a rose 3448 just sold at Phillips Geneva earlier this month. A rose 3448 is truly at the pinnac...
Im a huge fan of 5167. On the waiting list with my AD for 5167A or 5167R. I know I am one of the crazy ones ....but I think this watch would be just *incredible* on a rose gold bracelet.
No jewelry was harmed while taking these pictures... 😆😆 On a separate note, what's really puzzling me that even if there was some patina on the case... what's striking is to me that the hands definitely do look Rose and clearly there WERE NOT nearly as ex...
