Thank you for this review of the 5170G-001 and love letter to it.
It’s a very beautiful Patek Philippe chronograph. Modern but with a clear vintage inspiration. I have a personal soft spot for the yellow gold variant (5170J-001) because of the Roman XII and VI which give it an even more pronounced vintage look. But I might be influenced and biased by my love for my personal Cornes de Vache 1955, which also features these two Roman numerals and vintage appeal.
However I can fully understand why you love your G variant with its understated look and lovely Breguet numerals. A great timepiece.

I find “needle” hands incredibly refined, personally.
When you see them in real life you see how much refined craftsmanship they require. But it’s a matter of taste of course. ...
They work better on the VC imho...
...I'm generally a leaf guy for this family. With the pulsation scale, the hands always looked too short to me. Too bad they don't make this exact watch in J : ) ...

Understated, and often overlooked. I enjoyed them when they were in my possession - twice WG white dial, and once WG black dial. Gone now, but it is only because I wanted to focus on Perpetual Calendars. ...
The applied Brequet numerals on your 5170 are so lovely !
I am happy to hear that you love it a lot ! From my discussions with other collectors, some have issues with overall balance of the dial in that the middle of the subdials do not line up with three and nine.
Love the sensible case size of the 5170

I had the 5170G, which I really liked. Those wonderful Breguet numerals, in particular, are simply a feast for the eyes. However, in the end, it was the 5170J that impressed me even more. I really like the yellow gold on this watch, and the Roman numerals...
There are many variations of the 5170 (material, dial circumference print, indexes, hands), but I like this 5170G-001 the best. But to be honest, I want them all.
