But I really don't like vintage Rolexes. I know, to each his own and I understand some people love to have a rare vintage watch or a whole collection. It is a watch with history and they just won't make a few thousand watches extra. So as for 'collectibility' I can understand the hunt.
But once you have them ??? I tried years ago wit a 1680 from the end of the 60's and a 5513 from the early 60's. Everytime I wore one I had the feeling I was wearing a 50$ Chinese copy. It just feels so cheap made. The riveted bracelet from the 5513 was the worst thing I ever had on my wrist. A 50$ Chinese fake felt even better. Movements which don't wind as smooth as I was used too ...no, nothing for me.
Now take a Patek 2499, totally unreachable for me but this 50 years old Patek still feels like a top notch watch. I has the same quality and finishing as a complicated Patek from the year 2000. And that kind of quality is something I miss in vintage Rolex or Panerai.
Now that you know I will always prefer a modern Rolex I'll answer the question with ...... the Yachtmaster I and the sub 16610Lv. Can't decide between these 2. But almost all the other sport Rolexes are fine too , as long as it is made after more or less 1995 ;-)
