5170G-010 vs 5905P-010
Hi all,
I am ready to pull the trigger to buy my first Patek. I wanted a brand new one with my own named certificate and I have narrowed down to 5170G-010 (white gold black dial) or the 5905P-010 (platinum black dial). I would love to hear everyone's opinion on a) which one you would get and why, and b) which one you think will hold its value better.
There seems to be a general consensus out there that:
1. Manual in-house movement is highly coveted, and
2. The 5905P dial at 42mm is too big

Go for the 5905 whichever metal.

5905P in blue dial
Annual calendar, can be dressed up or down and the blue dial is beautiful.
Both are great watches.
But I personally like the 5170 more because of the movement and manual wind, as well as the aesthetic of breguet numerals and leaf hands. I certainly appreciate the argument for the AC but this 5170 is just my preference. Good luck.

The manual chrono movement is just gorgeous and the thinner case feels more comfortable on the wrist to me than the 5905.

The 5170 case leaves me a little bit cold, and i would much prefer the 5905P. The 5170 case is a little too thin, and does not have the heft of the P. Good luck!

I asked to try with a folding clasp, and it makes the watch even thicker. That\'s the reason I think.

Did you ever consider a 5960P?
