Met a friend in Tokyo...

Our dear mod in a dimly lit restaurant taken with a Leica M246+50 APO.

I spent a day with Casey. He accompanied me to the Leica office where I was lent a Leica SL demo unit to test in time for when I got back for the SL launch in Manila. I only had a brief relationship with the SL and will write about it in a different post.

It's always special to meet a long time online friend for the very first time. You know things will turn out well when you see a person for the first time and get that feeling that you've known that person for a long time. So it was with Casey. The shift from online to "offline" was very seamless. I guess this is what PPro friendship is all about.

We talked about many things. Watches, yeah.. I had to take a look at his IWC perp. When I showed him my 372, he said, oh yeah, I already noticed it when we first saw each other... to think I was hiding it inside my sleeve. Traits of a WIS I tell you.

There was camera talk of course. I was very impressed with his Fuji and how it handled in low light... not really a surprise. I think low light performance is one of Fuji's long time strength. We also discussed about Leica Manila opening their gallery with a two-man show from yours truly and a good friend. I'll have to share the details of that in another post.

Life gets in the way and it does prevent one from participating in the forum in a more involved manner. But nothing like meeting a friend from PPro to reignite things.

Best,

Echi

Raul never does anything half way... as you will re-discover when he gets around to talking about that two-man exhibition currently running at Leica Manila... the SL story is also a good one - stay tuned for that. Echi and I first crossed paths sometime in the summer of 2006 (I was the new k...

Thanks, Fernando... meeting Purists can be a bucket list in itself! I've seen the Kravitz. Do you like it? Or do you like the brassing to naturally develop

Photogenic... no way... it's the Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246), APO 50mm, and the photographer. Actually I struggle to get a decent portrait of myself... I have maybe six or so portraits that I am happy with (in my lifetime). All kinds of equipment and level of photographer... may...

Hi D... Thanks! Well, I'm sure it won't be the last. Just several hours by plane. Dangerous actually. Japan is a very nice place to visit. I wish Croatia was near!

That is a nice story Echi... not only great guys get together in Japan, but with wonderful cameras in hands! And to top it up a couple of watches as well I wonder what was Casey's watch choice? Best Edward
