I need comments from our ladies!

As you know, one of the pillars of current Dubuis collection is the new Velvet collection.

This collection features all the assets of Dubuis brand: beautiful movements, nice dial finishings and a daring design.

The daring attitude is not that obvious here but please, have a closer look to the dial and to  the case: don't you think that this watch seems to hesitate between a round and a tonneau shape?

I find this combo quite interesting, bringing a dynamic on the design.

Moreover, this combo of shapes allows to create this three layers  dial (if I include the flange).

But I feel that I'm not in the best position to provide accurate feelings about this watch. It is the reason why I ask you, ladies of the forum, what you feel and think about this Velvet watch.

A very delicate set bezel. You will notice the way the third lug of the Excalibur case is suggested:

none

Watch is powered by automatic movement RD822 which features finishings in accordance with Geneva seal:

none

Another piece of Dubuis DNA is the large roman figures. Without any doubt, this is a pure Dubuis watch!

none

So, dear ladies, it is up to you!

What do you think about this Velvet watch? Is it a watch you would consider?

Fx

Back to front is not consistent IMO. The watch is pretty, certainly. I like the semi cat's eye shape -- part round and part oval. However, the movement belongs in a different watch. The design is so heavy and masculine. Look at the rotor! The exploding Romans on the dial is very dynamic. The...

Thanks Daos! I was sure that you were able to find something I couldn't detect. Do you mean that you would prefer a solid caseback? Fx

Not necessarily. I would prefer a more delicately designed rotor probably. :-) Daos

Understood. What we have to understand here is that in the new Dubuis strategy, in order to propose adjusted prices (in the context of high horology watches of course), cost control is a key point. And the rotor is maybe the most obvious proof of this use of less pre...

Business-case... this is a sensitive point. If the efforts to control prices are all too visible in the final product the danger is that it loses appeal. All too often this has been done with exchanging dials, hand etc. for similar but less elaborate and thus less costly ...

Consistency... Daos, thanks a lot for your remark. I did not notice this and thus did not think about it, but I certainly will (with the help of my girlfriend ;-)!). Consistency in design and implementation is very important to me, and I am happy that you initiated this...

Yes, I agree, Daos underlined an important topic. Consistency and coherence, for me, they are the rules brands have to follow. Fx

Hi, Magnus! I perfectly understand the need for maximizing resources and components across models, but I worry that Roger Dubuis could be inadvertently hurting themselves if they take this concept TOO far. :-) I always enjoy your well-constructed thoughts! There's no...

Thanks for your presentation... of RD's new women's line. So far I like what I am seeing although I feel the dial is a bit plain compared to case/bezel. But for a final judgement I would (i) need to see it in the metal and (ii) discover more dial/case combinations. Kind regards, Magnus

Thanks Magnus! It was of course a fast and short presentation but I felt that ladies' points of view would be more accurate. Fx
