The ultra thin (1955) is a piece with strong Vacheron DNA and conjures up images of its dress watches made in the mid 20th century. The stunning Maki-e collection continues to assert Vacheron's role as a champion preserver of traditional crafts and heritage, and its namesake as "Metiers d'Art".
Amongst other novelties that I got to shoot were a few Patrimony w/ complications.
Fellow moderator "foversta" has done a fantastic and comprehensive report. I am just offering my perspective.
The Patrimony Traditionnelle 2755 in Pt and RG.
The Patrimony Traditionnelle 2755 in Pt, featuring perpetual calendar, equation of time, sunrise/sunset, tourbillon, and a 14 day power reserve. I love the long hand of the power reserve - makes it seem so dramatic!
One thing to note is that given the part of the world that you live in, the dial can be customized to increase or shorten the range of sunrise and sunset times (generally speaking, cities that are further away from the equator tend to have longer range of sunrise/sunset times throughout the year, than cities that are closer to the equator). Hence, BOTH the scale, as well as the range, will be different for a client living in Anchorage, Alaska vs. another client living in Los Angeles, California.
Patrimony Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, in Platinum.
The moonphase is beautiful, my only issue with this watch is that the dial seems to be squished towards the center, as well as a bit downward.
Ultra thin, with manual wind 1003 movement. The rectangular model has an automatic movement, but is still amazingly thin (I wish it had a display back)
Metiers d'Art Maki-e "La Symbolique des Laques", in collaboration with the Maki-e house Zohiko.
These are the highlight of the novelties for me.
It's a set of three watches (two in RG and one in WG), a total of 20 sets are made.
The designs have slightly raised textures, making the trees and the birds almost "alive"!
So tranquil...
It's not finished yet...
The backsides are equally mesmerizing!
Most photos do not show it, you can actually SEE-THROUGH the skeletonized movement. This collection emits elegance in both dial design as well as treatment to the movement.
Hope you love those Maki-e creations as much as I do...
Yours truly,
Jon (Z3)
