A couple of weeks ago i happened to be near the city of Reims ... don't know what led me there ;-).
So suddenly it came to my brain i had never visited the old stand of the former racetrack, after a quick search on Googlemaps i arrived at my destination:
What a fantastic place for car-nerds like me , i think Cazalea would love it here as well
. The 'old' painted advertising makes this place alive again. Can you imagine 14 Grands Prix where held here .. the track (public road) was used from 1926 till 1972 .
Fangio, Hawthorn, Brabham, Clark and many other legends risked their lives in these exhilarating and horrifying races.
The buildings have been in great distress, but a couple of years ago a bunch of guys started restoring them with some financial help of the local community.
Call me a freak, a nerd, a geek ... next time i'm in the neighborhood i'll have my coffee and sandwiches here while dreaming of roaring engines
.
An old pic to give you an idea of the atmosphere in the good old days !
If you google 'circuit de reims' you'll find a ton of information.
Chers,
