Friends,
One of the most alluring watches at SIHH this year for me is the Girard-Perregaux Neo Bridges.
Big, bold, dark, hi-tech… Tradition in a modern package.
A lethal combination!
Big , the case measures 45 mm in diameter and 12.18 mm thick.
Even if this is a big watch if you look at the numbers, the fit and comfort on the wrist are perfect!
The short, curved lugs help the watch wear smaller then it is.
The combination of brushed and polished titanium gives the case a very elegant look.
Bold , with strong features.
Enhanced hands in brushed titanium, large doomed crystal which leaves a very thin bezel around the case.
The thin, but also low bezel let the light come in to the dial in a way we see on very few watches today.
The light give life and play to the dial in a way that is impossible to capture in photo. Just stunning!
Dark , the colour pallet goes from silver (polished titanium) and tones of grey to black PVD. Accents of purple (jewels).
Due to the dark colour pallet, the importance of letting the light in to the dial is even bigger.
Showing every detail and level of the very three-dimensional dial.
Hi-tech , automatic movement (micro-rotor) Calibre GP08400.
The open dial showing all the details of the micro-rotor, barrel, gear train, escapement and balance wheel.
All there to admire with the naked eye.
On the back of the watch the open case show the base plate in the same colours as the front of the watch.
Nicely decorated with Geneva bars. Notice the “bridge” shapes. Do you see all three?
Tradition , the arrow shaped bridges we know and love are there.
This time without the Tourbillon which makes this watch more reachable for mere mortals.
The PVD coated bridges we first saw on the Neo Tourbillon are beautiful shaped, closer to the Golden Bridges then the more abstract Neo Tourbillon in shape.
Killer looks, fantastic comfort and interesting technical movement.
To me this is a lethal combination!
I wanted to give you a classic “stone shot”, but I didn’t dear to go closer with my stones…
So, this is the best I could do.
I am sure we will come back to this watch much more this year!
Best
Blomman
