I know most of us focus on the men’s watches and do not really look closely on what the brands have to offer for the ladies.

This year, in an attempt to enlighten us here and to welcome more ladies to read us, we will take a more detailed view of the Girard-Perregaux ladies novelties.

First up is the Cat’s Eye Day and Night High Jewellery!

The Cat’s Eye line is the only GP line which is solely dedicated to the ladies.

For many decades Girard-Perregaux has been creating ladies’ watches decorated with diamonds and also working with the feminine Cat’s Eye shape.

Its easy to think this is just another diamond crusted lady bling… But that would be to fool yourself.

The thoughts and care that has been put into creating this watch is only revealed if you look closer.

As the name implies, Cat’s Eye Day and Night High Jewellery , there is a theme to follow:

The Day and Night is represented by the dark blue night sky which catches your focus at first glance.

Surrounding the night sky is the light, the day.

52 brilliant cut diamonds on the bezel and lugs and another 149 diamonds on the dial.

Due to the brilliant cut and the choice of Pavé settings, these diamonds will light up at the faintest ray of light.

The Pavé setting do not only let the light in from the front but also from the sides of the diamond, often used on ladies’ diamond rings and jewellery.

And if that was not enough, the dial itself is not flat, the diamonds are set in different planes.

Creating a miniature velodrome with the blue centre as the lowest point and the corners of the Eye as the highest!

Like an inversed pie-pan, so to say.

Why use the velodrome shape instead of the pie-pan shape?

On a pie-pan, most light will hit the centre of the dial while on a velodrome more light will come to the side facing the light.

In addition to the Day and Night design, there is also the Day and Night indicator with the small seconds on top of the indicator.

No matter from which side you look at this watch, the light from the diamonds will always shine through.

The beauty of this watch continues on the back, maybe not in the same extravagance way…

But open case back with a well-fitting movement and the nicely decorated Pink Gold rotor gives a very nice view.

To me, this creation in blue and white is absolutely stunning!

And with only two weeks to Valentine’s Day, I get very nervous my wife will see this report…
