Novelty 2015: Vacheron Constantin Harmony Dual Time

Avatar

Gentlemen, I could handle the new Harmony 260th Anniversary Dual Time reference for a long look and wished to share this new very nice model with you. As you know, the new Harmony family has been unveiled to celebrate the 260th anniversary of the brand. The decoration of the movement is specific to this event with a particularly fine engraving work (balance cock, rotor for the automatic calibers etc...). The Dual Time version we have here is a smaller interpretation of the cushion shaped case seen in the .....">Story

A global look at some Vacheron Constantin new Harmony line models

Gentlemen, ladies, I've been able to have a closer look at some of the new Harmony family models from Vacheron Constantin . These new references have been unveiled this year to celebrate the 260th anniversary of the brand. I'll be talking more precisely about these models later but wanted to make an overall presentation of what I could see by myself already. With the American 1921 or the Quai de l'Ile and Malte models, the brand has shown a quite unusual "taste" in aesthetical design...">Story

In-depth Review: Vacheron Constantin Historiques Toledo 1951

Vacheron Constantin has been making watches since 1755, and with over a quarter millennium of continuous production to its credit the brand constantly has to be mindful of its past while it pushes forward with new wristwatch designs. One avenue that the brand follows is by making timepieces that honor the spirit of its past yet are suitable for todays tastes, as seen in the Patrimony and Traditionnelle collections. The excellence of the past in terms of design and finishing are still present, but the designs are suitable for contemporary wear, with greater water resistance, the advantages of modern precision production techniques, and in many instances longer power reserves. Another avenue is for the the designers at Vacheron Constantin to take specific designs from the past as the direct inspiration and point of departure for a modern watch that honor the excellence of those past designs...">Story

An encounter with the gem setter at the Vacheron boutique in Paris

Avatar

Yesterday I visited the Vacheron boutique of Paris. There was a reason behind this visit: actually, to celebrate the "journes europennes des mtiers d'art", Vacheron proposed to Grard Paquelet, the gem setter, to put his workbench inside the boutique for a demonstration of his craftsmanship and skills. So I couldn't miss his presence since gem setting is an art I highly appreciate. For this specific event, Vacheron managed to gather some watches which were presented at the very latest SIHH like the full set of the 4 Fabuleux Ornements pieces ...">Story

SIHH 2014: Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées

From the press release: Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées When engraving morphs into sculpture Through its new creations, Vacheron Constantin weaves subtle ties between two worlds that evolved in similar ways in the late 19th century: architecture and watchmaking. Based on one of the stellar in-house movements, Calibre 4400, this sculptural work with its airy, transparent and finely arched construction exalting the art of openworking vividly evokes the large European railway stations symbolising the golden ... ...">Story

A Closer Look at the Platinum Patrimony Traditionnelle

After visiting with Vacheron Constantin in April to see the 2013 novelties from SIHH in New York, I stated that my favorite watch from Vacheron Constantin this year was the Patrimony Traditionnelle in platinum with gray dial (It still is). I had taken photographs of the watch but they did not come out as well as I would have hoped. I finally got the opportunity to photograph this watch again and to much better effect. The basic Patrimony Traditionnelle (Reference 82172) and Patrimony Contemporaine (Reference 81180) are two of the brands best selling watches, and it shouldnt be any surprise why...">Story

The Sound of Music

Although a committed V&C collector, this Charles Frodsham timepiece from 1869 proved too much to resist. To begin with, it is a minute repeater! Have a look, a sound clip is included at the end... Charles Frodsham was a celebrated English watch maker from the golden age of chronometry, along with Arnold, Earnshaw, Dent, et al. In fact, Frodsham purchased John Arnold's business in 1840 and, for a brief period, their watches were labelled "Arnold & Frodsham"...">Story

Vacheron Constantin's Platinum Skeleton Minute Repeater

I think we can all agree that 2005 was one of the most important years in Vacheron Constantin??s 258 years as a going concern. That year the brand flexed its muscles as a manufacture with a series of limited edition watches with in-house movements that still impress almost a decade later (Tour de l??Ile, St. Gervais, and Jubile 1755 among others). These movements are still with us today in modified form in the Patrimony Traditionnelle Calibre 2755, Patrimony Traditionnelle Calibre 2253, Patrimony Traditionnelle 14 day tourbillon, and Quai de l??Ile Day-Date-Power Reserve...">Story
