Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Tribute Nonantième: Some thoughts and photos.

Avatar

Unveiled in April 2021, it took me some months to discover the Reverso Tribute Nonantième, which is now done. I already quickly reviewed it, and shared my first impressions with you, here: I suggest we discuss this new Reverso with a different angle, now, and wonder if the Reverso Tribute Nonantième is a true Anniversary watch, compared to the Soixantième ( 1991 ) and the Septantième ( 2002 ). I will sum my thoughts this way: The Tribute Nonantième has the class and the originality of a " Reverso Anniversary ... ...Story

My favorite Jaeger Lecoultre from these 6 past years.

There are watches which are still doable, and watches which belong to the dream category here. In the doable category, these are the ones: First place for the Geophysic Universal Time, for its look, its original complication ( world time + dead second ), and for its new movement ( Cal 772 ) : The second place goes to the Reverso Tribute Duo Steel, from 2016, for its exquisite proportions ( just a tad bigger than a GT case ), its grainy dial, and of course, its complication ( second time zone ) : The third ... ...Story

To some, what I’ve put together below is no secret; but for me it’s been a truly fun ride and learning process. This story/post begins here: 2 mos ago I spotted and felt suddenly and bizarrely compelled to buy this 90s Speedy Auto Date MK40 (3513.53), issued only in Japan for a year as I understand. It looks nothing like a Speedy Moonwatch or Racing watch, other than the lyre lugs and the broad white & black pencil hands used in some Speedys over the years. The subdials are oriented 6-9-12; no hesalite; .....Story

Love the nuance of the dial for the CB. Really cool how it can turn from a black to medium blue and even a light turquoise depending on the light source 😉 ...Story

Newsflash! New Girard Perregaux Esmeralda à Secret, Eternity Edition. Some thoughts.

Avatar

If you regularly follow our Girard Perregaux Forum, you know that in 2016, the Blue House introduced in the catalog the Esmeralda, but in a wrist watch, not like the ancestor which was one of the most delicious pocket watch ever made. Then, in 2018 we had a second edition, which was called " A secret " with a decorated case and a hinged case back. In 2019 we had a less sophisticated ( cleaner? ) version, in white gold. A photo of the three, side by side: And here is the link to my review, posted in 2019: .....Story

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture, 2021.

Avatar

I wanted to share with you a new release from Alpina, which I find very interesting, the Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture. Interesting it is, for three reasons. First and most important, a reminiscence of the Past, with this modern bumper movement which belongs to a bygone era, as it disappeared at the end of the 50's, early 60's, replaced by the rotor we all know, now. The vintage: Here, a picture of the Cal AL 709, which is automatic, of course, beating at 28, 800 vibrations per hour and with a 38 hours .....Story
