Food & Wine

Paella for eighty

We threw some parties this weekend, and needed help with the food. We called a local guy who responded, eager to help and willing to deviate from his father’s recipe for someone who can’t deal with onions or garlic (me). It turned out about  a dozen more feel the same way. Anyway there were two parties, one on the lawn at a friend’s house Saturday, the other on the patio at our church on Sunday.

Augie brought “all the right stuff” and got into the 90 minute cooking routine….

I used a sabre to remove some champagne corks

(only one sword swipe each day although we drank a dozen bottles).

Not a cloud in the sky and not too hot either.

All told, about 80 people were fed and watered (sangria and champagne).  It was very tasty and lots of fun, although a monumental effort to organize on our end.

The occasion was our 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

Cheers!

PS - a gift for our guests was Himalyan Darjeeling tea, and Mrs. C thought of the label FIF-TEA (yellow labels for the caffeine avoidance crowd)
