A very interesting and think provoking post dear Nicolas. I guess the Horological World has gone a bit crazy in the last years...
Instagram, new pseudo collectors who are actually investors or speculators have done a big part of the damage. Then there are the makers who lacking of new ideas keep milking the market with "new" unattractive models or with attractive models which can´t be bought at their Boutiques or AD´s and can only be viewed in their advertising or in windows in company of a little tag saying that they are just for display.
For true collectors and watch lovers the passion is still in our hearts, in spite of this very discouraging panorama.
Of course we always have the vintage resource but as everybody here knows prices have scalated to the sky: many desirable brands and models have followed the prices trend making them unreachable.
In spite of this reality we still can keep our passion alive enjoying what we already own in our collections and also we can have the pleasure of a GTG where we find the joy of meeting friends and colleagues in passion and share our pieces and display our love for them. And of course we can share our love for watches participating in this place which is our refuge where we can find our old friends sharing the same passion.
Thank you for this post my dear friend and thanks to all friends who share their point of view in their answers.
Abrazos!
Abel
