Agreed on all counts but the nice thing is that there’s still a lot of interesting pieces from a few years ago that have dropped nicely in price and become more attainable.
Thinking of “weird” pieces like the Zenith I posted earlier today. A lot of stuff previously hyped like Panerai is very accessible too now which I like.
Also appreciate all the new independents popping up and catering to different tastes.

The reasons for why it is the way it is, is in my mind complex and hard to pin down. The mechanical watch is not an item of purpose anymore. It is an item of luxury. The correct time (often more correct than a mechanical watch gives) is easily accessible ...
