Please have a look at my reply to Alex below - I hope some of your question is answered inside.
As for the terminology - as I already said, I can't really live with the term "inspired" - but that's most likely a matter of
taste, or language, or all together. And as I tried to pinted out below, I don't find anything wrong or as it could be understood as offense if one says "it's based on" or even using parts of the design.....
It's just intersting and worth a discussion.
