Personally I think it's fantastic for everyone who buys watches on a budget.
Omega Speedmasters are too expensive for most people and now - hey presto - they're within reach. Imagine all the kids (and I mean children) who'll be able to enjoy them now, especially in such a grim economy for regular folk.

people would get wound-up about a 'low-end' quartz iteration of the SM for pennies on the dollar.... I had a full-fledged SM before, and will have another down the line, these fun quartz watches take absolutely nothing from the 'OG' SM . Filip

Have to disagree mon ami. Swatch will sell a TON of these and open the door to those would might consider a Speedmaster in the future whereas they most likely would not had it not been for this Swatch opening the door 😜

Again, I have to disagree. I believe the target demographic for these Swatch Speedies are between 12 - 30 years old. I can see how a parent who wears a Speedie or even those who don't, buying one of these Swatches for their kids. At 250 euros / 260 USD..
It is at a VERY accessible price point which will allow MORE people to experience a Speedie at 1/20 - 1/30 the price. All that will do is lead to more Speedie sales where there were no leads prior. Basically FREE marketing from Swatch for Omega. WIN WIN 🏆...

I'm not sure for a branding purpose why omega logo, speedmaster logo and speedmaster shape would be so prominent on a few hundred dollar Swatch. It looks cool. But these will sell because someone wants to spend 250 to look like they have a 6k speedmaster....

While I do find these watches interesting, I'm not going to buy one. I don't like quartz watches and I already have a 321 in my collection. To me these are great gateway watches for kids and adults alike, but I personally don't see the value in adding one...
