I agree with everyone, but......
You have to admit can be a bit aggravating to see a unexpected downturn play out, for whatever the reason. It's human nature.
That being said, I personally am not sure the value of 5270 (a watch I like and appreciate) ever held up to begin with to ever be worth MORE than, say, a 5970P (a timepiece I happen to own and LOVE).
I do like the new in-house movement but I also think it was a bit pricey WHEN compared to it's Lemania bretheren. I feel these thoughts are parallel to my feelings of a 5170 compared to the 5070 (i own 5070).
I realize these are just MY opinions, but I am discouraged by some of the new model pricing decisions when I COMPARE them to other recent models.
Of course, you have to LOVE and ENJOY what you buy. But value, no matter what anyone says, plays some small part in enjoying any collection to the fullest. And, everyone has bought a loser (including me) when blinded/guided by the "got to have it" syndrome/itch.
Just my two cents.....

A very simple collector comparison would be the manufacturing capacity for Patek of the Ref. 5270 is infinite due to the in-house movement. For 5970 that capacity was limited to the remaining movements on hand. It only makes sense the 5270 would spiral do...

movement is much better, its impossible not to notice it when you wind it, and toy around with chrono. As for the looks, its a matter of taste

In fact the issue here is that i like a brand protecting it's customers and i was used to have this image from Patek the rarity was a part of the beauty It is a very nice watch and i enjoy it but i would be happier if it was not sold below official retail...

5270G is perfect
I bought my 5270G late November 2011 at full msrp. I love it and if I was offered a return for full money I wouldn't take it! My 5970P has been very lonely since the 5270G arrived.
