Why the buzz of a new line aimed at a new and younger audience when all you do is throw out a derivative of a proven concept?
When the Aquanaut was initially released it was not given a separate line within the collection, it was part of the Nautilus line. But with its dramatically different character and style it eventually earned a separate place within the Patek lineup.
What do I think of these new additions I reserve for when I get to see them in the real. I enjoy all shapes in wristwatches as they offer different expressions. But initial impressions is that this is a derivative of a proven concept and should have been left as that. It would be easier to digest and more credible if it was allowed a place under the Nautilus tree.
Is there sarcasm in the name of this line? Like “move over”, here I am. Cubitus meaning elbow, that is. I am not aware of how they derived at this name, perhaps it simply a the right angle reference as all corners are 90 degrees.
Furthermore a comparison to other square offerings would be interesting going forward. One that immediately comes to mind and so far has been under-understood is the Octo Finissimo. But there are other square shaped goodies out there that may see some sun now from the community now that the Cubitus sun has arrived and shining.
